Following all of the issues that we have had with our postal service in Southaven, you would think that very little would surprise us at this point. However, today adds yet another level of failure to the total ineptitude that is regularly demonstrated by our local mail carriers.
I would like the add that prior to the 5 years that we have resided in Southaven, we never had a single issue with USPS. I truly hope that something is done to improve our service. I don't feel that I am asking too much that our mail be delivered correctly and on time.
We attempted to deliver your item at 7:37 pm on September 9, 2017 in SOUTHAVEN, MS 38672 and a notice was left.
After locating her, I asked her to look for the package. To her credit, she spent 4 or 5 minutes digging around in the back of her truck, but was unsuccessful. I thanked her, and returned home, unsuccessful in my efforts.
Half the time my stuff is delivered late. Or it was attempted when we were home. And all you had to do was leave in mailbox or at front door. Mail is being delivered at 6:45. Then half the time it's the neighbors mail. It's ridiculous how bad it has gotten.
We chalked it up to a lost cause, and proceeded to move on with our evening. However, my wife checked her tracking info one more time and was flummoxed to discover a new entry:
Well after 5 pm, we saw the mail truck heading into our neighborhood. The gentleman driving was not our carrier, but he delivered our mail. My wife met him at the box, and he told her that our new carrier was running late, and he was attempting to help her out. He told my wife that our carrier had given him our mail but no package. He said that she was in another part of our neighborhood, and knowing how important this particular package was for my wife, I set out to find her in an attempt to find the package.
Apparently, a delivery was attempted at 7:37 pm on Saturday night, My wife and I were home the entire time! Also, AGAIN, THERE IS NO NOTICE!!!!
The Southaven Post Office is indicative of why companies such as FedEx and UPS exist and are thriving vs USPS. Their repeated failures to deliver packages on time and to the correct address absolutely defies explanation. I have been forced to drive around my neighborhood in search of packages left at the wrong house on more than one occasion.
Lazy, inconsiderate, rude employees. Our mailman delivered 4 packages to the wrong address 2 blocks away from our home and no one did anything to help retrieve our items. I was given the run around and treated as if I was bothering them when I called to inquire what I could do to find my items. I was told I would have file a claim on my own with each individual sender to get reimbursed even though usps was at fault and admitted to misplacing my items. Luckily, a neighbor spotted the packages on the front porch 3 days later and we were able to get all our packages with no help what so ever from the post office. I will gladly use a different carrier when the choice is given anytime I need packages delivered. Customer service is a thing of the past and it's sad that our government funded services are falling into this pathetic category. It doesn't take that much effort to be kind and understanding.
Great staff who goes that extra mile to make sure everything is right. Plenty of staff
Very poor again been weeks now since ive gotten any of my mail. Mail carrier will speed through my cove without stopping at my box at all. I wish they will carriers better trained.
Infuriated, my wife and I havespent hours attempting to register a complaint with USPS, but none of the phone numbers are manned at this point in the weekend, and the USPS website is as disfunctional and disappointing as the service we have received in Southaven. We have repeatedly been redirected by error messages every time we have attempted to email the USPS using their website.
My wife was eagerly anticipating a delivery of a special order gift, and according to her tracking number, the package left the Southaven Post Office for delivery this morning. Our normal carrier left the USPS, and our mail delivery had recently arrived later than usual.
I have spoken with several people at the Southaven Post Office in an attempt to resolve our issues. On one occasion, the lady that I was speaking with informed me that she would make a special note on our account to pay special attention to any mail coming to our address and ensure that it is delivered properly. I was dumbfounded. I asked her, as the entire purpose of the United States Postal Service is to deliver mail properly, was it really necessary to instruct mail carriers to deliver mail properly?
On another occasion, when speaking with the same lady, she basically accused my wife and I of being dishonest in our recounting of the events surrounding yet another botched delivery. The postal carrier alleged that they had attempted delivery, and when unsuccessful, they had left a notice for redelivery. I informed the supervisor that my wife and I had been home the entire time, and no delivery had been attempted nor had a notice been left. The supervisor said that the carrier who delivered to my neighborhood was one of their best, and obviously my wife and I were "mistaken." I asked her how we could be mistaken, as we had been here the entire time and there was no notice. She hesitantly said that she would contact her carrier for further information. Miraculously, our package was delivered 30 minutes later.
